Redesigning the Experience to Empower the Electronic Music Community

How I contributed to improving the user experience of an app focused on electronic music culture and community through user research and a UX-driven redesign.

Challenge:

Identify and address usability and communication issues in the app’s existing user experience, ensuring clarity, consistency, and engagement.

Impact and Key Findings:

UX Issues Identified:

• Recurring instability in key functionalities.
• Lack of feedback for user actions.
• Event details were unclear or insufficient.
• Poor application of core UX principles.
• No empty states implemented.

UI Issues Identified:

• Inconsistent sizing, shapes, and alignment of UI elements.
• Weak visual hierarchy.
• CTA buttons lacked consistency in form, scale, color, and states (default, pressed, disabled).

UX/UI Recommendations:

• Implementation of a design system.
• Development of a unified UI Kit.
• Iterative UI redesign addressing the identified issues.

Design Process:

The project followed Design Thinking methodologies across the following phases:

• Emphatize:
  • UX/UI design analysis of the current B2C app version.
  • Problem identification and initial diagnosis.
  • Empathy workshops with different user types (creators and end users) to understand their vision, experience, and expectations.
  • Usability testing with actual app users.
• Define: general and specific goals, sprint planning.
• Ideate: sitemap, user flows, and improvement proposals.
